Fees + Referrals

Individual Therapy.

Seeing a Psychologist can sometimes feel a little daunting, especially if you have never done it before. And feeling a bit nervous before your appointment is normal. But for most people, this eases up pretty quickly when they are in the room.

Individual Psychology Sessions are generally 50 minutes duration. In the initial sessions I will ask some questions about you, your life, and background and your current struggles. There are no right or wrong answers here.

This process usually takes 1-3 sessions. This might also involve me sending you some questionnaires about your symptoms to complete either before your first session or in between sessions.

Then together we will discuss your goals for therapy, and what you would like to work on or improve and develop a treatment plan.

Fees.

The fee for a 50 min Psychology appointment is $260.

As we are a private billing practice, the full payment is payable on the day of your appointment. If You are entitled to a rebate, this will be processed following your appointment.

Currently, the medicare rebate for a 50 minute Clinical Psychology session is 141.85.

*The current recommended rate suggested by the Australian Psychological Society (APS) for a 50 minute Clinical Psychology session is $311, so to keep therapy affordable, my fee is well below this.

Referrals.

You do not need a GP referral to access Clinical Psychology Sessions.

However, if you would like to claim a rebate from Medicare you will need a current GP referral and mental health treatment plan. If you have a current referral, you are entitled to a medicare rebate for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.

Alternatively, you may be able to claim a rebate through your private health fund (depending on your level of cover), but you will need to confirm this with them.

The fee is paid on the day of your appointment and the medicare rebate will also be processed on the day of your appointment. Payment is made via eftpos, credit card or direct debit.

To access medicare rebates/ a GP referral you will need to book in a long consult with your GP and request a mental health treatment plan. Your GP will then complete this and write a referral for you, the GP can email this to us directly or you can email it to us at least 48 hrs prior to your first appointment.

If you would like to book an appointment, please contact Catherine via email or phone.

Once you have an appointment booked, you will then receive an email with the details of the location and an intake form to complete. You may also receive other questionnaires to complete on your current symptoms to establish a baseline.

Cancellations.

If in the event you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please aim to do so 24-48 hours prior to your appointment. We know this is not always possible in genuine emergencies or sudden illness etc. More notice simply means that we can offer the appointment to another client.

If you do not attend your appointment (No show) or cancel without 24 hr notice, you will be required to pay a late cancellation fee ($100).

Emergencies.

We are unable to offer a crisis service or intervention. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, or experiencing a family or domestic violence situation you can contact lifeline (13 11 14), 1800Respect (1800 737 732), Beyond Blue, your GP, or visit your nearest emergency department.
